Most of the paintings you see here deal with a journey I did not realize I was taking. The paintings were done at a time when many of my dear friends and loved ones were going through significant life-changing passages. Even my children's dog, a beloved member of our family, was affected.

While my emotional energies were directed outward, in a real sense, these paintings created themselves. None of them were consciously planned, and yet as I worked on each one, I found that I was expressing the joys and sorrows of those around me, as well as my hopes and fears for them. A dog became a metaphor for my thoughts and feelings about the cycle of life. You will see figures and animals in many of these paintings.

Shortly after I began this series I found these powerful lines from a poem by N. Scott Momaday:

"These figures in my rhyme,

Who are they? Death and Death's Dog Time."

These words resonated with my feelings as I was painting and became part of my vision.

I realize that throughout our lives we keep company with the knowledge that we are marvelously fragile and on this earth for a fleeting moment. We face life's passages separately yet together, sharing joys and sorrow with those around us, and moving forward each day into an ever-changing future.

Concurrent with my new body of work, I continue to work on the Hidden Treasure Series of everyday ordinary containers, i.e. a shopping bag, with a special and meaningful treasure, my trip to Italy, and the Supernatural Exquisite Series, begun after a trip to San Francisco.
